I’m 73 years old, proudly born, educated, and a lifelong resident of Melton Mowbray. My journey in local politics began in 1999, and since then, I’ve had the honour of standing as a Conservative candidate in fourteen elections—winning eleven, one unopposed, and narrowly missing out on two (which I put down to poor weather… and a questionable choice of tie!).
In 2005, I was elected to Leicestershire County Council. Over the past twenty years, I’ve served on the Cabinet and, most recently, had the privilege of acting as Chairman during 2024–2025.
My dedication to the Melton Wolds Division remains unwavering. Whether it’s by email, phone, SMS, Messenger, or even over your breakfast table, I’m always happy to connect. I’m also a proud supporter of all fourteen Parish Councils across the division.
In addition to my County Council work, I’ve served on Melton Borough Council since 2003, including six years as Leader. I currently represent Old Dalby Ward. As a ‘Twin Hatted’ Councillor, I aim to offer a ‘one stop shop’ for residents navigating both LCC and MBC.
My commitment to public service is deeply rooted in our community’s rural values and the challenges we face. Whether it’s working with the LLFA on flood mitigation or championing grassroots efforts like the Speed Watch Campaign, I remain a determined advocate for local priorities.
Outside the council chamber, I’m an avid walker—clocking up 50 miles a week, come rain or shine. I’ve roamed many of Britain’s National Trails, though the 268-mile Pennine Way remains a personal favourite.
