As a Thurlaston Parish Councillor, Maggie has worked with other members to fundraise for new play equipment on the Recreation Ground and completed the process of providing eight Affordable Houses at All Saints Close Thurlaston.
She has supported single issue campaigns including working with action groups to provide mobile electronic speed signs which are now installed on entrances to the village.
Maggie believes Village organisations are the life blood of the community and need continual support and encouragement.
Maggie’s practical work experience includes time with British Gas as a Customer Accounting Manager, A Volunteer Bureau Manager for Blaby District South and an Accounts Officer at the Leicestershire Rural Community Council.
Maggie has spent the last 13 years working for Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland as an Information & Advice Caseworker. She now specialises as a Residential and Nursing Home Care Advisor. Maggie has a keen interest in the Care Act and Social Care reforms.
As a Blaby District Councillor she has held the position of Portfolio Holder for Community Services.
She won this division at a by-election on 3 May 2018 following the vacancy caused by the passing of Ernie White.
