I’ve lived in Market Harborough for almost three years, having returned to the UK after more than two decades working in New Zealand. Like many, the pandemic and the loss of family made me reassess priorities — and ultimately brought me back closer to home.
I grew up and went to school in Sussex, and graduated from the University of Essex in 1988. Since arriving back home, I’ve thrown myself into community life. I helped establish a residents’ group, served as a governor at a local school, and supported a number of local initiatives. My wife Mandy and I, together with our family and menagerie of New Zealand pets, are proud to call Market Harborough home.
Professionally, I’ve held senior roles across public and private sectors — in health, IT, and education — delivering transformational change both in the UK and globally. I now work for a global IT company, which gives me the flexibility to serve my community.
Politics is not new to me, neither is service. Two years ago, I stood in the district council elections and, though unsuccessful then, I was determined to keep fighting for residents. On May 1, 2025, I was honoured to be elected as County Councillor for Market Harborough West & Foxton, succeeding Councillor Phil King. Winning by just 19 votes shows how every vote matters — and I will never forget the trust placed in me. I am committed to standing up for our communities across Market Harborough and the surrounding villages, challenging poor planning applications and other decisions which affect us, and ensuring that local people are listened to.
As part of the second largest group on Leicestershire County Council, I will work constructively but firmly to hold those in power to account. Nationally, the new Labour government’s approach is putting rural areas like ours at risk — undermining farmers, pensioners, families, and local businesses.
I am a traditional Conservative and I believe in strong local government that delivers value for money, protects frontline services, and invests wisely in our future and keep council taxes as low as possible.
We live in a beautiful, largely rural county at the heart of England. I will fight to protect its heritage, support its communities, and ensure it continues to thrive and prosper for generations to come.
